If you grew up in New Orleans in the 1950s, there is no need to explain Mr Bingle for you. Indeed, all we have to sing is. . . "Jingle, jangle jingle, here comes Mr. Bingle" and you return to the days of your youth. Mr. Bingle originated as a mascot of the Maison Blanche department store in New Orleans. He was later marketed in New Orleans and elsewhere by Dillards and remains part of the popular culture of the Greater New Orleans area.
